Prof. Dr. ir. Wil van der Aalst is a full professor at RWTH Aachen University, leading the Process and Data Science (PADS) group, and chief scientist at Celonis. He is called the Godfather of Process Mining and the research he started in the late 1990-ties led to a wave of Process Mining tools, including Celonis, Disco, ProcessGold, ARIS Process Mining, Lana Labs, Signavio, etc. His research interests include Process Mining, Petri nets, business process management, workflow management, process modelling, and process analysis. Prof. van der Aalst has published over 250 journal papers, 22 books (as author or editor), 550 referred conference/workshop publications, and 80 book chapters. Next to serving on the editorial boards of over ten scientific journals, he played an advisory role for several companies, including Fluxicon, Celonis, ProcessGold and Bright Cape.
